I am Jennifer Jenkins. I am a Mother, Wife, Doula, Fire & Aerial Artist, Plant Addict, Backyard Farmer, Lifelong Student, & Animal Lover who will ask to pet your ‘doggo’. While I spent my early years in Columbus, Ohio, and attended college at Ohio University for a BS in Wildlife and Conservation Biology, I now call Oklahoma City my home!
I am a proud momma to three out-going, adventurous ‘dragons’, ages 7 – 2 months old. My husband is a talented sushi chef and instructor & we love cooking together & traveling around the US to teach at different events with our kiddos. I love all the babies, pets, and plants! So naturally, we started our own miniature permaculture farm in our own backyard. It’s truly fascinating how things Thrive when you nurture natural interconnection. We also foster pets in need of forever homes for OKC Animal Welfare. I specialize in neonatal kitten and puppy care.
I serve the Central Oklahoma community of birthing people & families who are searching to take their pregnancy, birth, and postpartum options into their own hands through the support and resources of a doula specific to their birth experience goals.
It is the combination of my experiences as a qualified birth and postpartum doula & mother of three, that helps me in empowering women’s lives in my community, by providing clients with emotional, physical, and educational support. My own birth experiences with and without a doula enlightened me on how crucial a doula’s support is to achieving an empowered birth.
After seeing the care model that women are expected to encounter during their pregnancy experiences during my own traumatic births, I decided things NEED to change for the better. The first step was to change career paths and devote my life to fighting for women’s rights during pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.
The trauma of my experiences, while unfortunate, lit a fire in my heart for supporting and empowering birthing people. I feel very passionately that every person deserves to be supported regardless of how they choose to experience birth. It gives me profound joy that I have the opportunity to be welcomed into such an intimate and life-changing event in others’ lives in order to provide support.
There is nothing quite like the exhilaration of a new life entering the world.
Getting to work as a birth professional is my heart work. I look forward to every opportunity to refine my skills and knowledge in order to better serve my clients’ needs. Also, seeing previous doula babies flourishing gives me an astonishing feeling of joy!
My days may not always be full of woodland adventures in the way I had thought, But it is full of hard, inspiring work that touches my heart & soul in ways that I could not have thought possible. While the experience that brought me to this work was traumatic, I have taken that trauma & turned it into power for my fellow women and families.
