My Top 3 Online childBirth classes

If you are an expecting parent you may already be familiar with the difficulty of finding in-person prenatal education classes like newborn care, breastfeeding, and birth classes. Some of my Oklahoma City community’s local educators have adapted by providing one-on-one classes and workshops for families in order to stay Covid cautious. These classes are wonderful but they can cause educator’s schedules to book up pretty quickly!

Maybe you are having difficulty finding a course that is supportive of the birth you are planning for. For instance, some areas on have local hospital birth education courses and these are often classes on how to have a hospital birth. They are often not truly supportive of unmedicated labor plans.
((I plan on writing more about this in a future blog!))

What Can You Do If You Are Having A Hard Time Finding Local Prenatal Classes In Your Area?

What Are The Benefits Of Taking Online Childbirth Classes?

Online classes have pros and cons just like anything else. For one, you may have a question that wasn’t answered during the course. Or maybe you are a more kinesthetic learner and need to physically try something you learned. That is where a doula, like me, can assist you! I meet with my doula families in their third trimester and go over birth preferences, discuss birth positions, and help them become familiar with different birth tools they can utilize during their labor and birth journey.

Online Childbirth Classes Fit To Your Schedule

A benefit of online classes that I hear from my client’s often is the ability to take the classes when they have time in their schedule. oftentimes, both parents are still working full time prior to babies birth and organizing schedule to be able to attend in-person prenatal classes can be difficult. My doula families have told me about how they made it a special bonding time at night together, snuggling and watching the courses together. I absolutely love the idea of parents learning together in such a loving way!

You Can Take Prenatal Classes At Home

You are probably taking your prenatal education in your third trimester. There is a good chance you may want to stay in the comfort of your own home while learning about birth, breastfeeding, and postpartum. This is especially true for those looking for a Covid cautious class option.

Online Classes Are More Private For Those Who Need Space While Learning.

For those parents who learn best in a private setting, online prenatal classes are a great option.

My top 3 recommended Online Child birth classes

1.) The Mama Natural Birth Course

I have heard the most positive feedback from my doula clients about the Mama Natural Birth Course. You may be familiar with ‘Mama Natural’ because Genevieve Howland, bestselling author of The Mama Natural Week-by-Week Guide to Pregnancy & Childbirth is a co-creator of the website. Along with Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) and Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) Maura Winkler.

You can check the website for deals on the course. The day I wrote this article, Mama Natural was having a 25% off Flash Sale.

They even provide this video sneak peek of their course!

2.) Evidence-Based Birth classes for expecting parents

If you know me, you probably know that I am an Evidence-Based Birth fan girl. Providing my doula clients with unbiased, evidence-based information is a top priority for me so that they can make informed decisions about their pregnancy, birth,  and babies care.

So this course is definitely on my list of recommended online childbirth classes. I myself have taken all of the birth professional courses that EBB provides and REALLY liked them. I feel comfortable suggesting them to clients and expecting parents because I know that they are going to walk away from the course as informed and empowered choice makers.

The EBB online course is great for those who may be looking for a secular option for education.

3. Birth Boot Camp’s Online Course

The online Birth Boot Camp classes are taught by Donna Ryan and Hailie Wolfe in a morning-talk-show style. They worked to make the birth classes interesting, entertaining, and educational! They are as close to a live childbirth class as possible, from the comfort of your living room instead of going to a class

My husband and I both went to in-person Birth Boot Camp classes in 2019 and both really enjoyed the class.

Birth Boot Camp is a great class for those who may be looking for a secular option for education.

Knowledge is Power!

Being informed about birth is so empowering. I cannot stress enough how crucial it is to be educated on your options as well as on the physilogical process of birth. When we don’t know what is happening within our bodies during labor and birth, it is easy to enter the fear-pain cycle. Regardless of if you choose in-person or online classes, the most important thing is that you take a class at all. I hope you find the right class for you and that maybe this made your search for an online prenatal childbirth class a little easier.
